This meeting is called by icipe, the Work Package 8 leaders, in conjunction with the UPSCALE project coordinator Prof. Emily Poppenborg. The main purpose of the workshop is to review the status, track progress, learning and plan for effective implementation and coordination of Work Package 8 activities across all the 5 UPSCALE sites in Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda.

The online issue in December is a close follow up on the previous edition of the workshop in November:

The partners observed that the UPSCALE project implementation phase on WP8 had reached mid-stream stage after 2 years since the start of the project. Therefore, there was urgent need to evaluate the progress of activities and strengthen the synergies focusing on integration of WP8 with other Work Packages. There was general acknowledgement that tremendous progress had been made in all work packages. This led to a positive feedback from the EU Commission to the overall UPSCALE project report of the first 18 months on project implementation. However, the participants were of the view that there had been a lag in WP8 activities as at that period.
