The 2nd RUFORUM Triennial Conference

The Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM), a network of 170 Universities in 40 African Countries, will hold its second Triennial Conference from 12th – 16th August 2024 at Mercure Hotel, Windhoek, Namibia. The theme for the second Triennial Conference is “Operationalising Higher Agricultural Education and Research Ecosystems for Innovation, Industrialisation and Economic Development in Africa: A Call for Action”.
The conference will enable education, research and agricultural ecosystem actors to showcase and present their key findings, lesson-share and inform each other on key actions required to harness science, technology and innovation for Africa’s development. Accordingly, the second Triennial Conference will involve scientific sessions that bring together a wide range of stakeholders and partners. The scientific sessions will include oral and poster presentations as well as exhibitions.
The RUFORUM Secretariat invites researchers, opinion leaders, graduate and Post-Doctoral students and development experts to submit short abstracts under the thematic areas and sub-themes presented on the website. High-quality papers will be published in either the RUFORUM Working Document Series https://repository.ruforum.org/ or scientific journals including the African Journal of Rural Development https://afjrdev.org/index.php/jos among others.
The deadline for Abstract submission is the 15th of April.
The RUFORUM 2nd Triennial Conference objectives:
1. Enable education and agricultural ecosystem actors to showcase and present their key findings, lesson share and inform each other on key actions required to make science work in Africa’s development.
2. Engage lead actors in policy and practice, to identify action areas for further investments in agriculture and higher education.
3. Promote international linkages and partnerships for excellence in Higher Education.
4. Provide a platform for discussions, and lesson learning among diverse actors on the subject of creating employment for Africa’s young population.
5. Deliberate on the macro and micro needs to adapt smart operations in terms of changing connectivity, education, business practices, sustainable agricultural and value chain transitions and advancement.
